Jungle Huntress by Ashalind Jungle Huntress by Ashalind
My second attempt at the beautiful yet mighty true master of the Jungle. I am thrilled with how this came out. It puts Heart of the Jungle to shame. My only concern is that she may look a little masculine because of her muscular physique. I chose the pink colours to avoid any confusion.

I am a BIG fan of watercolours. Jungle Huntress by *Ashalind is why. This has such rich vivid jungle colours, with spot on tiger anatomy, mixed with beautiful human anatomy. The background pulls it all together in such a perfect way, this was an obvious DD choice for me. ( Featured by Marker-Guru )

They are found in the hot rain forest of Malaya, the dark thorny woods of India, and the cold, snowy, spruce forest of Manchuria. They also live in oak woods, tall grassland, swamps, and marshes. Tiger prefers to be in shadows and seldom go into open country as Lions do.

And yes, I did study those subjects about 8 year ago! I can tell you I've learned a lot more about the world since the meagre teachings of high school.

How do you separate the water color from bleeding into the image of the tiger?

:iconashalind:

I start with a colour wash that covers the whole image. Then I build up the background and just "keep within the lines". If some spills over it doesn't matter because I'll be going over it when I do the character.

Wow, this is just beautiful. The background is just breathtaking with its colors, and the tiger is very well done as well.

You among other artists have definitly inspired me to try my hand at watercolors! :)

The artwork is absolutely exquisite - wonderful detail, smooth paint, excellent anatomy, beautiful, moment-captured-in-time composition, and well-balanced use of color - but what I love most about this piece is the representation of a strong but feminine lady. She's gorgeous. Bravo!

She does look a little masculine. But you know what makes that so? She's got fur that covers breasts that are common-sized for reality, and aren't arroused. Lovely work here, really :3

My sweet Ebele wants you to draw her ^^; Same for my fox/bat, Artimus.

She's beautiful. You can see the feminine attributes pretty well. She looks like she belongs on a Magic: The Gathering card. I have a cat deck for the game, lol.

Oh, wow, gorgeous watercolors here. The tigress looks so natural, and I love how you kept her muscular body instead of making her some sort of wimpy tiger girl that most people draw.

Much love for this, totally deserves a favorite.

oh...I think I'm pretty sure that tigers live in the Jungle, (think India and Bangladesh, Easter Siberia...etc. etc.) and lions are from plains. =)

Very Very nice.

The only thing that I noticed was that it's head looked slightly to large.

But you can't even compare that with all the fine detail put into the picture
